Default Botters and loot scaling...

I was thinking, since loot now scales with party size (most of it), wouldn't it be smarter to farm with 8 people, even if 7 were afk? You might be thinking, "Yeah, but I still only get 1/8 of the drops". True, unless you had 8 accounts.

Now.... Who has 8+ accounts? Botters. They could easily log on to 7 accounts on one machine, and have another for the active farmer, solo, then have each account pick up their respective loot... They are then getting all of the loot, plus the bonus from hard mode.

They would of course have 7 accounts idle, but they would save on 1.) labor, as one person could solo(provided its a pro farmer not a bot) 2.) processing power, since only one machine has to be able to play at a reasonable level. 3.) This might also reduce the risk of bans on accounts, since really only one account is a bot to a noticable degree. The others just pick up loot.

I'm sure they've thought of this, it is their livelihood afterall... Just a thought.

Botters already run as many accounts as they can. Wheras before those 8 bots were going out solo and grabbing 8x drops each, now you say they'd party up and still only get 1x drops. It's not a particularly effective tactic, especially since loot scaling doesn't seem to be quite as harsh as 1/8. Bots also generally don't care about the extra rares in hard mode because they just merchant junk drops for gold. (Those player-valued items are all exempt from loot scaling anyway!) They can do even simpler runs now with the AI nerf and no actual farmer is needed.

The cut to farming drastically decreased the amount of gold bots are getting but also affecting normal players.

I wonder if the Granite Citadel is still as totally riddled with them as it ever was before.

Speaking of which, is anyone farming Icy Dragon Swords in Hard Mode... or is it too far to fight through all those Avicara and Stone Summit?

If a botter took several different solo builds into one area and then farmed the whole area with them, then he wouldn't be losing as much in drops.
